Good with a capital G

Hi. Today I want to tell you about Picassa. It's Google software, so you know its "Good". Not "good" in the sense that its great software, but "Good" in the capital G sense that its not "Evil". It's not Microsoft and its not adware and its safe. It's also good in that its free, can find and index all the pictures on your computer, gives you basic photo re-touching tools that are really easy to use and lets you put your favorite photos on the net to share with your family and friends.

I used to have a album at Yahoo! Flickr but as promised, now that Google have a similar service, I have moved my photos.

I got an e-mail from a Flikr member today that I didn't know about and have never met. This sheila Gail Orenstein likes taking photos and posts them on Flickr, but she copy and pastes a news clipping with it touching on some of the latest headlines. Here are a couple of interesting ones that you may want to look at. The photos are great and are added to the story for dramatic effect but they weren't taken by the journalist or the team that did the story.

I will point out that bloggers and photographers are not journalists, but Gail is doing a great job of bringing news and issues to people who may otherwise not bother to read them.

An 'Easter Egg' in certain web browsers will be revealed if you enter the following phrase into the address bar and go to it.

Some versions of Netscape, Mozilla or Firefox will display a verse from "The Book Of Mozilla" that comes across a bit like a verse from The Book Of Revelations in the Bible on a maroon background. Here's an example.

Some easter eggs can be found in DVD movies too. Some of George Lucas' films have hidden videos. If you press "1138" on the DVD remote when the "THX" logo has been highlighted, it unlocks extra blooper reels and stuff. Lucas' first film was called THX 1138.
